There is a new Ghostbusters movie coming out. Normally that would be good news, but in this case, I am hesitant to even use the name Ghostbusters in association with this masculist piece of crap.
To begin with, don’t look for Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd or Harold Ramis anywhere near this big wad of celluloid fail. Instead, there are three men taking the lead roles. That’s right, you heard me. MEN. And no, I don’t mean men who are Sigourney Weaver hot. Far from it.
That is it. Mad Max was bad enough (oh, how they fawned over that bit of masculist agitprop at the Oscars). I am calling for a women’s rights activist boycott. We will ruin this movie. We will destroy the careers of all those “actors,” and we will make Sony Pictures lose millions of dollars. Millions I tell you!
Oh, wait. I’m sorry. I was confused for a moment. I thought this was Return of Queens. Feel free to copy the first three paragraphs of this article and paste it into the comments over there when they get around to saying something stupid about this movie. For those interested, here is the trailer. Please note the down votes.
Sure enough, the claim of misandry being at the root of the poor reaction is already being peddled by some low rent pundits, to wit:
I read through about a hundred of the comments. Most of the negative reactions were because the movie looks dumb, top heavy with CGI and too much of a departure from the franchise standard. That departure probably includes a predominately male cast, which masculists will undoubtedly attribute to misandry, but there is no shortage of men in the comments panning the trailer.
So here we go with quite possibly the next big event in masculist activism, with actors now being the targets of roving, misandristic movie trailer down voters. If we are lucky, and if anyone at Return of Queens knows when to shut up, we won’t see that followed up with a half dozen mainstream articles pointing back to AVFM and the MHRM as the widely known secret source of all the terror.
I’d like to tell you I am waiting for the movie to come out before I pass judgment. I’m not. The preview promised an inane, let’s call it ditzy two hours that I might be persuaded to watch at 3:00 AM when plagued with insomnia and desperate for something to encourage sleep. And only then if I did not have to pay for it.
I don’t care how people interpret that. I have been called a misandrist for far less.
On the other hand, I am waiting patiently for the new Mad Max to come to Netflix or Amazon. From what I have heard, I will probably like it even though there’s a, you know, man in a lead role.
